Few producers have shaped the sound of left-field bass music like EPROM. Born out of San Francisco’s underground and now based in Portland, EPROM started making beats at 13 and went on to build one of electronic music’s most distinctive catalogs: heavy, precise and hard to pin down. It pulls from dubstep, acid, techno, drum & bass and hip-hop without fitting neatly into any of them.

Across releases like Metahuman, Halflife, Samurai and the Aikon EP, on labels including Alpha Pup and Deadbeats, EPROM has set a high bar for sound design. His collaborations run just as deep. With G Jones he made the cult-favorite Acid Disk series and 2025’s Disk Utility EP. With Alix Perez he formed SHADES, a slower, darker project whose records, from In Praise of Darkness to 2025’s The Lower World, have become touchstones of the leftfield scene.

His 2023 album Syntheism raised the question of what it would mean to deify what we create. He answered it on stage with Syntheism Robotics, a live show where industrial robot arms fitted with LED screens moved in sync with his music. He choreographed every movement himself and ran them live from his own production setup.
